The skincare routine which helped me get perfect skin

It's infuriating to spend money on beauty product after beauty product and not see results. My skin has been terribly dry since I can remember and I have terrible acne every time I start my period. I felt like I was always waiting for the next breakout or spell of dry flaky skin that I could not get rid of. About three years ago when I started my beauty journey, I started taking skincare seriously. By taking the time to research ingredients and how they could help (or not help) my skin, I was able to reduce my skincare routine. Currently, I use a small collection of products every day, and I've found that my skincare routine is much more manageable than it used to be. Since starting this routine, the results have been amazing.

I don't wear any makeup, except for mascara and eyebrow tint. Which (let me tell you) has not always been the case. Ever since I started using these products in my daily skincare routine, breakouts have not been the norm for me. Dry skin? It's a thing of the past, even in winter. I haven't deviated from my routine in a while and I don't think I ever will. All the products I use and why I use them are listed below. They can be expensive, but good skin care products that you believe in are worth the price. Not only do I feel more confident (thanks to these products), but I know far more about what I am putting on my skin and how it is affecting me. You can see and feel the difference in countless other products. Trust me. Once you find a product that works, you can't forget it.

    Makeup remover: Milky Jelly

This is the first one I use. It is a very gentle cleanser and can remove all makeup in one go. I find it best for removing the most stubborn and hard to get off eye makeup.

Facial Cleanser: Ursa Major Fantastic Facial Cleanser

This is my saving grace. This natural cleanser is completely free of sulfates, silicones, and parabens, and smells like lime and spearmint. Not only is it very refreshing, it also dramatically soothes the skin. Sugar cane contains a natural source of alpha hydroxy acids, which have played a huge role in keeping me acne free. Thanks to this face wash, breakouts have become a very rare occasion for me.

Day Moisturizer: Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Cream

I use this cream in the morning, and it gives my skin the burst of hydration it needs. It blends well with my skin and doesn't feel like it's sitting around. The papaya enzymes help to smooth and exfoliate my skin. This leaves my skin smooth and soft.

Facial Scrub: Olehene Lixempore Balance Facial Sauna Scrub

This scrub reminds me of the facial scrubs my mother used to use when I was little. It has a warming and cooling effect that is invigorating but not overwhelming. I use this about twice a week for exfoliation. The volcanic sand and neem seed oil help to remove dead skin cells. The scent of peppermint is the wake up call I need.

Sunscreen: LaRoche Posay Tolerian Double Repair Face Moisturizer

My skin is pretty clean, so I'm no stranger to sunscreen . I wear this as a preventative measure and to protect my skin. It's lightweight, so it doesn't feel as heavy as sunscreen. It's oil-free and fragrance-free, so there's no weird smell or greasy mess.

Night Moisturizer: Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich

I've avoided thick moisturizers for fear that they might cause acne, but this face cream is rich and moisturizes the skin without being sticky. At night, I lather it on my face. The fatty acids in the cream help lock in the moisture so it doesn't get sucked away when you sleep. It is very affordable and luxurious.

Scars: Sunday Riley Saturn Sulphur Acne Treatment Mask

If I have acne, I use this. Depending on how stubborn the acne is, you can leave it on for 20 minutes or leave it on overnight. I have found that it is not strong enough to dry out the skin, but strong enough to remove the acne (or dramatically reduce its size after one application). The best part about this acne treatment? The acne does not come back. There is no need to reapply.
